Summary

In this unit, we will write three Short Summaries, and then combine them in a Synthesis Summary by use of a Synthesis Chart.

Each Short Summary should be a maximum of one to two paragraphs long. Remember, you are summarizing the articles, not paraphrasing them.

Your final Synthesis Summary should be four to five paragraphs long, with each paragraph addressing a certain main idea in relation to the three articles. Your Synthesis Chart should match your Synthesis Summary--it serves as a guide for your writing.

Your Short Summaries will not be graded with a rubric but graded based on completion, content, and quality. Your first draft Synthesis Chart and Synthesis Summary will be peer reviewed. Only your final drafts will be graded.

Due dates:
Short summary 1 due Oct. 9
Short summary 2 due Oct. 11
Short summary 3 due Oct. 16
First Draft Synthesis Chart and Synthesis Summary due Oct. 23
Final Synthesis Chart and Synthesis Summary due Oct. 30
